User experience is fundamental to the success of any product or service. As users become more tech savvy their expectations of any IT product grows too — especially when it comes to usability and simply getting what they want out of it. This makes usability a core challenge for designers, business analysts, project managers and in fact any IT team.User Centered Design Methodology (UCDM) brings the user to the centre of the software design and development process. UCDM is becoming increasingly recognised as critical to the development of any successful software or IT system.Enspiral Training is offering two usability workshops, Usability Basics on August 22nd and Advanced User Experience Design on the 23rd. The first focuses on the fundamentals of user centered design and includes a practical example of how to conduct a usability test. The advanced class encompasses additional channels and usability techniques.
In both sessions participants will use real-life project examples and best-practice frameworks to work through hands-on case studies using UCDM. Participants will receive full notes, templates and resources for future use. These workshops will be lead by Keong Wong. Keong has over 10 years of usability experience and is is one of New Zealand’s leading experts in the area. In 2002 he became a founding member of one of the first UX research labs in New Zealand — the AUT Usability Lab. He was lead author of the usability guidelines for the New Zealand government web standards in 2007.Having trained over 100 IT professionals and mentored over 15 usability experts, Keong is passionate about passing on his experience and knowledge in this area.
